DfE Academies: Case for Change

Background

Academies are publicly funded independent schools, free from local authority and national government control.

Brief

The Department for Education identified a need to communicate the benefits of Academy status to the heads of outstanding schools that had not engaged with the academy conversion initiative.

The communication was intended to be used by headmasters and stakeholders as a tool to inform the consultation process.

Solution

I developed the idea of a magazine in which school Heads who had been through the Academy conversion process told the story of how they did it in their own words. The look and feel is friendly, plain speaking and informational, supporting heads in their decision and helping them through the process of converting.
